The Chinese Education Development Project (CEDP) has been sponsored by UKIEA, since it became a charity. The CEDP specialises in supporting Chinese/ English people and organizations who are interested in China projects. The CEDP Arts Group aims to bring the Chinese culture to the whole community of Brighton and Hove. The Arts Group performance includes traditional Chinese dancing, singing, martial arts, Chinese lion dance, dragon dance and calligraphy. The CEDP Arts Group is also a key member of the local minorities’ artist association.

The reputation of the CEDP Arts Group has been built up gradually. It aims to exchange culture and enhance the social life of the local Chinese community. They not only undertake the responsibilities of performances for important Chinese festivals, such as Chinese New Year and the Mid-Autumn Festival but are also very active on the stage for different organisations, institutions, universities and Chinese communities. Presently, there are 30-40 actors/actresses in different fields including dancing, singing, martial arts, lion dance, dragon dance, calligraphy in the CEDP. Their hard work has made the CEDP Art Group an important member in the local minority’s artist association.
